Fire companies that serve Pleasantville and Collingswood will receive $328,149 in federal grant money.
U.S. Sens. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., and Jeff Chiesa, R-N.J., announced the two grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response programs.
The AFG program provides funding to enhance response capabilities and to protect the personnel’s health and safety.
The Pleasantville Fire Department will receive $88,965 from AFG for operations and safety.
The SAFER program provides funding to increase the number of “front line” firefighters in their communities.
The Collingswood Fire Department will receive $239,184 from SAFER to hire two firefighters.
