It’s the summertime! For some of us that means non-stop work, but for others it means a time for relaxing. For those of us who work a lot, it is still necessary to find some downtime because too much work and stress can affect your health.

Take a vacation or a weekend getaway. According to a few different studies, regular vacations (a few times a year) can decrease your risk of heart disease. You will get extra sleep which will improve your cognitive functions such as memory and alertness. If you can’t get away for too long, try taking power naps. 20 – 30 minutes of sleep is all you need to feel more alert and boost your mood and performance. This is what the Spanish do; siesta is a rest time of about 30 minutes after la comida to prepare them for the rest of their day. If they can do it, you can, too!
