We’re all looking for ways to look younger or add years to our life. Certain habits will help make your life longer.
- Go mediterranean – Add extra-virgin olive oil, nuts, fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, fish, poultry, and occasionally some red wine to your diet. These are key components of the mediterranean diet and can reduce your likelihood of heart disease, heart attack, stroke, or other cardiovascular problems.
- Exercise – It may seem like a “DUH” tip, but not enough people in the U.S. get enough of it. Aerobic and muscle-strengthening activities can improve sleep, make you sharper, and decrease the odds of getting diabetes and cardiovascular problems.
- Lose weight – Another “DUH” tip, but losing a few pounds will decrease the odds of getting cancer or developing diabetes. It also helps your heart.
- Stay or go smoke-free – According to The Open Addiction Journal, one cigarette a day can increase your odds of a heart attack or lung cancer. After about one year of being smoke free, your odds decrease by up to half.
If you take care of your body, your future self will thank you.
