It’s time for the second Wellness tip of the day! This one has to deal with snacks, in particular, a popular movie theater snack.
According to a study from the University of Scranton, popcorn has more of the antioxidant, polyphenol, than most fruits and vegetables. Of course you’re not going to find this healthy snack with your traditional butter-lathered, movie theater jumbo bucket. Air-pop your own popcorn. One cup of air-popped popcorn contains less than 50 calories. Microwave and oil-popped popcorn contain twice as many calories as air-popped. Dr. Vinson, who conducted the study said, “about 43 percent of microwave popcorn is fat, compared to 28 percent if you pop the corn in oil yourself.”
