This post is going to be a little bit different than a normal Wellness post. It’s not going to be specific, more of a general how to “behave” at a restaurant, and with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it’s great timing!
When going to a restaurant, there are ways to help what you eat before even ordering anything. Here are a few tips to make sure you make the best of your restaurant experience.
- If possible, pick or request a quiet table away from large parties or television sets. When you’re focused on something other than what you are eating, you are more likely to over-eat, especially if restaurants offer unlimited pieces of bread or biscuits.
- Check out the menu online. You’re more likely to make wiser decisions at home alone than at a restaurant with your friends or significant other. The peer pressure and empty stomach tends to sway you towards something not as healthy.
- Order first. Speaking of peer pressure, if you hear your friend’s order, you’re more likely to order something similar because his or her’s sounds so tasty. Order your healthy meal first, close your menu, and you’re all set!
