Last week on Wellness with Waldy, I talked about Yo-yo dieting. Yo-yo dieting is the constant loss and gain of the same amount of weight. Supposedly, nutritionists said this is bad for your metabolism, but a recent study in Metabolism suggests that is has no effect on how efficiently your body burns fat.
However, this constant loss and gain and weight derails your confidence. PhD Judith Brisman, director of the Eating Disorder Resource Center in New York City suggests making more realistic goals for yourself by cutting it in half. Instead of trying to lose ten pounds, aim to lose five. It will be easier to lose and maintain a lower goal.
So, if your New Year’s resolution is to lose weight, start out smaller so you can accomplish your goal. By no time, you will have that wonderful beach body you always dreamed of!
